Said to have accidentally been created for the then Prince of Wales in Paris in 1895 when the syrup used to cook the crêpes accidentally caught fire, the dessert was named after one of the guests in the Prince’s party. This is just one origin tale but whatever true story is, this remains one of the most iconic French desserts and a popular choice for those choosing to celebrate Shrove Tuesday with the delicate crêpes partnered with a zesty orange and Cointreau sauce.
